Associate Thin Film Laboratory Technician


Ted Pella, Inc. is seeking candidates for an Associate Thin Film Laboratory Technician to join our production team. This is a temporary to hire position. After the first 90 days, the position may become regular full time based on need and performance. This position will assemble products in our Thin Film Laboratory (TFL) to meet daily customer demand and production schedule. This position reports to the TFL Manager.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic TFL production tasks as trained and assigned according to the skills matrix. Will train on Technician level production tasks as training and skills allow.
  • Follow instructions to fabricate products in accordance to protocol instructions provided.
  • Assist in solving routine mechanical problems of equipment used to make products.
  • Process products and parts from receiving into inventory, pull parts from inventory into production for assembly, inspecting parts carefully.
  • Inspect parts as requested.
  • Ensure work is completed at optimum temp and jobs are completed according to schedule.
  • Ensure work area is maintained, clean, efficient and safe.
  • Assists other staff as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • This position works in a semi-clean room environment, and therefore requires the employee to be a non-smoker, wear no makeup or scented products, no nail polish or acrylic nails or anything else that creates particles that will damage products.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required. General science knowledge is helpful.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in product assembly, small tool assembly, or related production or manufacturing environment is required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate excellent fine motor hand skills, hand-eye coordination, and dexterity in handling small things.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Must be self-motivated to work well independently, as well as work well on a team, organize and prioritize responsibly, handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and keep up with production workload.
  • Must have good attention to detail and an eye for quality control.
  • Must be a quick learner, able to follow specific instructions, be patient, and keep up in a fast paced environment.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills, and be able to work well with others.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
  • Must have basic typing and computer skills.
  • Must have strong attendance record and work ethic, and maintain a positive attitude at all times.
  • Must be able to continuously sit, stand, see, hear, and use arms and hands to hold, feel and manipulate tools, products, and equipment. Continuous use of fine motor skills with hands and fingers, as well as frequent turning of head and torso. Continuous use of vision to see small details up close. Regular walking, bending, reaching. Occasional kneeling, crouching, stooping. Regular lifting, pulling, and pushing objects that weigh up to 10 pounds; occasional handling of heavier items up to 30 pounds with assistance.
  • Hours:

    Monday through Friday: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM; hours may vary as needed based on business needs

    Pay/Benefits:

    The hourly pay range is $16.09 – $20.91. Hourly rate will be commensurate with experience. This is a temporary to hire position. The initial 90 days employment will be through a staffing firm. An offer for full time regular employment may be made at the end of 90 days.
